Abu Lubabah said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited killing the jinnan (small snakes) that are in the house, except the one which have two streaks and the one with small tail, for they obliterate the eyesight and cause miscarriage.

Benefits and Issues:
Specifically regarding Madinah Munawwarah, it has been reported that there were jinn residing in the houses there, who would occasionally appear in the form of snakes, but they would not cause any harm to the inhabitants. Therefore, in other places as well, if there is a situation where a snake appears from time to time and then disappears, it is most likely a jinn. Thus, one should not be hasty in killing it; rather, it should be warned verbally three times to leave the place.
If it appears again after that, then it may be killed.
As will be mentioned in the following ahadith.

Hadith Commentary:
In the previous hadith, there was an instruction to kill the snake with stripes and the one without a tail.
Here too, the command is given to kill the snake in which both of these characteristics are present; such a snake will be even more venomous.
This hadith is not in contradiction with the next hadith.
The meaning is that whichever snake possesses either one or both of these characteristics, kill it. (Wahidi)
