Narrated Abu Buraydah: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: A human being has three hundred and sixty joints for each of which he must give alms. The people asked him: Who is capable of doing this ? He replied: It may be mucus in the mosque which you bury, and something which you remove from the road; but if you do not find such, two rak'ahs in the forenoon will be sufficient for you.
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
Benefits and Issues:
➊
Spitting in the mosque or placing any kind of impurity there is a sin, whereas taking care of its cleanliness and removing any filth is a meritorious act, whether it is by pressing it into an unpaved floor or by scraping and cleaning it off.
Similarly, removing bricks, stones, rocks, or any other obstacle such as a pit from the path is an act of great reward, and those who place these or other harmful things in the way incur a grave sin.
➋ The virtue of the optional (nafl) prayers of Ishraq is such that it fulfills the servant’s obligation of gratitude, but this should not be understood to mean that, because of them, a person is absolved from financial charity.
