Hadith 5238

Narrated Dukayn ibn Saeed al-Muzani: We came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him for some corn. He said: Go, Umar, and give them. He ascended with us a room upstairs, took a key from his apartment and opened it.

Benefit:
In this hadith, it is mentioned that one should take care of the needs of those in need; whatever thing someone requires, that very thing should be given in charity and alms. One should make appeals and offer support in favor of the needy. If someone knows that a certain person is in need, yet does not encourage others to cooperate with him, he is committing a sinful act and is denying the religion, as Allah the Exalted says:
"Have you seen the one who denies the Day of Recompense? That is the one who repulses the orphan, and does not encourage the feeding of the poor."
From this hadith, the generosity of the noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum ajma'in) is also established, and it is also proven that in the era of the Companions (radi Allahu anhum ajma'in), there were locks, and they used to keep their valuable possessions locked.
