Hadith 5197

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ فَارِسٍ الذُّهْلِيُّ , حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ , عَنْ أَبِي خَالِدٍ وَهْبٍ , عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ الْحِمْصِيِّ , عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ , قَالَ : قال رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِاللَّهِ مَنْ بَدَأَهُمْ بِالسَّلَامِ " .
Narrated Abu Umamah: The Prophet ﷺ said: Those who are nearest to Allah are they who are first to give a salutation.

From this hadith, it is understood that whoever has a greater attachment and connection with Allah will also possess greater humility and modesty. Therefore, such a person will also be the first to initiate the greeting of peace (salam).
