This was the last bequest (wasiyyah) of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). The last words on the blessed tongue of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) were: (Allahumma ar-rafiq al-a‘la) “O Allah! Join me with the highest companions.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, al-Maghazi, Chapter: The last thing the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) spoke, Hadith: 4462)

Just as we make bequests regarding family matters, likewise, we should also make bequests to act upon the commands of the religion.

This bequest of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) relates to both religion and worldly affairs. In Islam, both are given equal importance.
