Benefits and Issues:
This narration has a weak chain of transmission.
However, assisting one’s people in sin and oppression is forbidden (haram).
And this is precisely the kind of partisanship (ta‘assub) that has been prohibited.
Rather, there is an explicit command: (وَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَىٰ وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ) ( ) “Cooperate with one another in righteousness and piety, and do not cooperate with one another in sin and transgression.” (al-Ma’idah: 2)
