Hadith 5117

حَدَّثَنَا النُّفَيْلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ نَصَرَ قَوْمَهُ عَلَى غَيْرِ الْحَقِّ ، فَهُوَ كَالْبَعِيرِ الَّذِي رُدِّيَ فَهُوَ يُنْزَعُ بِذَنَبِهِ " .
Narrated Abdullah ibn Masud: If anyone helps his people in an unrighteous cause, he is like a camel which falls into a well and is pulled out by its tail.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
Benefits and Issues:
One who unjustly supports his own people cannot save himself from destruction.
Therefore, a believer should refrain from such wrongful action.
Rather, they should exhort others to the truth.
Although this narration is mawquf (attributed to a Companion),
it is supported by the following chain which is marfu‘ (attributed to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
