Hadith 5105

Narrated Abu Rafi: I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ uttering the call to prayer (Adhan) in the ear of al-Hasan ibn Ali when Fatimah gave birth to him.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
Benefits and Issues:

The wisdom behind this practice is evident: it expresses faith in Allah and His Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and manifests a connection to one of the most important symbols of Islam. The purpose is also to seek blessing (tabarruk) from these blessed words, so that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, may set this newborn upon the path of success and protect him from the influence of Satan.
Ameen.

The narration regarding saying the adhan (call to prayer) in the ear of the child is not established with an authentic chain.
However, this practice has continued in the Ummah up to this day.
And this practical continuity (tawatur ‘amali) of the Ummah itself is the basis for its permissibility.
Shaykh al-Albani rahimahullah has also accepted, to some extent, the basis for giving the adhan.
As for saying the takbir in the other ear, he did not accept it.
(Al-Da‘ifah: 329/1, 331, Hadith 312) However, to our knowledge, there is no evidence for this practice being Sunnah.
