باب مَا جَاءَ فِي الدِّيكِ وَالْبَهَائِمِChapter: Regarding roosters and animals.
Hadith 5101

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تَسُبُّوا الدِّيكَ ، فَإِنَّهُ يُوقِظُ لِلصَّلَاةِ " .
Narrated Zayd ibn Khalid: The Prophet ﷺ said: Do not curse the cock, for it awakens for prayer.

The rooster received this honor and dignity because it awakens people for prayer.
Therefore, the honor and respect of the mosque’s muezzin, imam, and the scholars of religion should be even greater.
