Narrated Umm Salamah, Ummul Muminin: Some relative of Umm Salamah said: The bed of the Prophet ﷺ was set as a man is laid in his grave; the mosque was towards his head.
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
Benefits and Issues:
Although this narration is weak, in other authentic ahadith it is mentioned that the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) would sleep facing the qiblah, lying on his right side, as will be mentioned in the next narration. In this manner, the Prophet’s (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) head would be towards the direction of Masjid Nabawi. Some have also explained that the Prophet’s (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) prayer mat and place of prayer for tahajjud would be right by his head. The point is that even at the time of sleep, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) would not be heedless of remembrance and preparation for worship.
