حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي الزَّرْقَاءِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : " مَا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْسِبُ أَحَدًا إِلَّا إِلَى الدِّينِ " .
Narrated Aishah, Ummul Muminin: I never heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ attributing anyone to anything except to religion.
Brief Explanation
1؎: Imam Mundhiri says that perhaps Abu Dawud has included this hadith in this chapter because the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would attribute people only to the religion, so that through this hadith he may guide people to use the words that have come in the Book and the Sunnah, and prevent people from using words and expressions of ignorance, just as the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam used «عشاء» in place of «عتمہ». And this hadith is mursal (disconnected); Zayd ibn Aslam did not hear from Aisha radi Allahu anha. (Awn al-Ma‘bud 13/227)
