Hadith 4973

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَيَّانَ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ حَيَّانَ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَطَبَهُمْ ، فَقَالَ : أَمَّا بَعْدُ " .
Zaid bin Arqam said that the Prophet ﷺ addressed them, saying: To proceed (amma ba’d)

Brief Explanation
1؎: The phrase of «أما بعد» is recited after the words of praise (hamd) and prayer (salat). The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) used to employ this phrase, and there are narrations related to this from approximately twelve Companions (radi Allahu anhum).
