Hadith 4899

حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا مَاتَ صَاحِبُكُمْ فَدَعُوهُ وَلَا تَقَعُوا فِيهِ " .
Aishah reported the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: When your companion dies, leave him and do not revile him.
Brief Explanation
1؎: That is, do not say anything about him in this regard which, if he were alive, would have caused him distress.
