Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
Benefits and Issues:
➊ In general circumstances, sitting cross-legged is permissible; even a sick person may sit in this manner while performing prayer. However, for eating, some scholars have considered sitting in this way to be disliked (makruh), and their reasoning is that this manner of sitting can fall under the category of reclining, and eating while reclining is prohibited.

➋ It is recommended (mustahabb) that a person remain seated in the mosque after the Fajr prayer until sunrise, engaging in remembrance (dhikr), glorification (tasbih), recitation, and other acts related to the Qur'an.
