Narrated Abu Musa al-Ashari: The Prophet ﷺ said: Glorifying Allah involves showing honour to a grey-haired Muslim and to one who can expound the Quran, but not to one who acts extravagantly regarding it, or turns away from it, and showing honour to a just ruler.

Benefits and Issues:
➊ A person whose youth was spent in Islam and who has now reached old age is very honored and respected in the sight of Allah Ta’ala. It is obligatory to accord them dignity in the Islamic society.
➋ The people of the Qur’an—that is, the memorizer (hafiz), reciter (qari), teacher (mudarris), exegete (mufassir), and caller to Islam (da‘i)—who in reality adhere to the prescribed legal boundaries, neither exceeding nor falling short, must also be respected.
➌ The just ruler who enforces the limits set by Allah (hudud Allah) likewise deserves to be honored and respected. In view of the importance of these individuals, Allah ‘Azza wa Jall has made their honor and respect a part of His own honor. And this statement is by way of example and emphasis.
➍ According to some researchers, this narration is of the level of hasan (good). See: (Sahih al-Jami‘, Hadith: 2095)
