Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
Benefits and Issues:
➊ It is extremely improper for a person to arrive late and then attempt to take a place at the front by stepping over the necks of those already seated.
However, if those who arrived earlier did not observe the etiquette of the gathering—such that they left the front area empty and sat in the way—then stepping over necks becomes permissible.
This is because they themselves have forfeited their own dignity.

➋ According to our esteemed researcher, this narration is weak in its chain of transmission; however, in terms of meaning, the narration is authentic, as our esteemed researcher has clarified in his research and referencing. In addition, Shaykh al-Albani rahimahullah has also declared it authentic.
