Hadith 4707

Ibn Abbas said: Ubayy bin Kaab told me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Al-khidr saw a youth playing with boys. He took him by his head and uprooted it. Moses then said: Hast thou slain an innocent person who had slain none.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
Benefits and Issues:
➊ Prophet Musa (alayhis salam) was bound by his own Shari‘ah; apparently, upon witnessing an evil, it was his duty to oppose it. However, the reality of the matter was different, of which he was not aware, whereas Khidr (alayhis salam) was informed of it.

➋ All knowledge of the unseen (ghayb) is with Allah alone; none among His creation possesses knowledge of the unseen, whether a Messenger or a Prophet, or a righteous elder or wali—except for that which Allah has informed His Prophets and Messengers about. This passage of the Noble Qur’an () makes it absolutely clear that when Allah Ta‘ala informed Khidr (alayhis salam) of a matter, it became known to him, and when He did not inform Musa (alayhis salam)—a noble Prophet, who, along with prophethood and messengership, held the lofty rank of being Kalimullah—then he had no knowledge of it whatsoever.
