Benefits and Issues:
To love or to harbor aversion are actions of the heart, while giving something to someone or withholding it are actions of the hand, and all of these are causes for the completion or deficiency of faith (iman).

Hadith Authentication: The chain of narration for this report is hasan (good) in itself.
◈ Al-Tabarani has also narrated it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir with the chain « [8؍208 ح7737]
➊ Yahya ibn al-Harith al-Dhamari: He is trustworthy (thiqah), see: [تقريب التهذيب 7522]
➋ Qasim ibn Abd al-Rahman Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Dimashqi, companion of Abu Umamah: He is truthful (saduq) and his hadith is hasan. The majority of hadith scholars have declared him trustworthy, truthful, and his hadith as hasan.
The names of those who have authenticated and defined him, along with references, are as follows:
Yahya ibn Ma'in
Al-Tirmidhi [428، 2347]
Ya'qub ibn Sufyan al-Farisi [
Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid ibn Jabir [
Ibn Shahin [
Al-'Ajli [التاريخ : 1505 قال : ”شامي تابعى ثقة يكتب حديثه وليس بالقوي“]
↰ That is, he is not as strong as Sa'id ibn Jubayr and others, but according to al-'Ajli, he is hasan al-hadith.
Ibn Hajar al-'Asqalani [
↰ There is no significant criticism (jarh qadiha) against the narrator in «يغرب كثيرا».
In addition, authentication and definition are also narrated from the following scholars:
Abu Hatim al-Razi, Ya'qub ibn Shaybah, Abu Ishaq al-Harbi, and Ibrahim ibn Ya'qub al-Jawzajani.
The following scholars have narrated criticism (jarh) against Qasim mentioned above:
Ahmad ibn Hanbal, al-Ghallabi, al-'Uqayli, Ibn al-Jawzi, Ibn Hibban, and al-Zayla'i [نصب الرايه 1؍69]
↰ From this detail, it is clear that this narrator is considered reliable by the majority of hadith scholars, therefore his hadith is hasan.
Note:
SA Hafiz al-Haythami writes:
«وهو ضعيف عند الأكثرين»
And he (Qasim Abu Abd al-Rahman) is weak according to the majority. [مجمع الزوائد 1؍96] EA ↰ This statement is incorrect for three reasons:
① After investigation, it has been established that Qasim mentioned is considered reliable by the majority.
② Hafiz al-Haythami himself calls him trustworthy: «كما تقدم آنفا».
③ 'Ayni al-Hanafi said: «والقاسم بن عبدالرحمٰن وثقه الجمهور وضعفه بعضهم» [عمدة القاري 7؍146 ح1103]
Fiqh of the Hadith
➊ It is established that faith (iman) is the name of both statement and action. Faith increases and decreases, therefore the belief of the Murji'ah is invalid.
➋ One should spend one's wealth and property only on those avenues that are in accordance with the Book and the Sunnah.
➌ One should never spend one's wealth and property on matters contrary to the Book and the Sunnah, otherwise there will be a decrease in faith.
➍ Having enmity towards the people of innovation (ahl al-bid'ah) and criminals is a sign of faith.
➎ For a Muslim to love another Muslim for the sake of Allah is a highly virtuous act.
