حَدَّثَنَا
الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا
يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا
هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ
مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ
حُذَيْفَةُ " مَا أَحَدٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ تُدْرِكُهُ الْفِتْنَةُ ، إِلَّا أَنَا أَخَافُهَا عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ ، فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : لَا تَضُرُّكَ الْفِتْنَةُ " .
Narrated Hudhayfah: There is no one who will be overtaken by trial regarding whom I do not fear except Muhammad ibn Maslamah, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Trial will not harm you.

Benefits and Issues:
The sole reason for this, after the special grace of Allah Ta’ala, was their seclusion from tribulations by adopting solitude, as is mentioned in the following narration. However, this does not mean that if a person is able to have an influence on people and his words are listened to, he should remain a silent spectator and not fulfill the duty of enjoining good (amr bil-ma‘ruf) and forbidding evil (nahy ‘an al-munkar). Rather, this applies in the situation when a person is not in a position to play an important role; in such a case, it is in seclusion that safety lies.
