Hadith 4587

Narrated Abdul Aziz ibn Umar ibn Abdul Aziz: Some people of the deputation which came to my father reported the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: Any physician who practises medicine when he was not known as a practitioner before that and he harms (the patients) he will be held responsible. Abdul Aziz said: Here physician does not refer to a man by qualification. it means opening a vein, incision and cauterisation.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
Benefits and Issues:
People generally relate remedies that they have merely heard about; in such cases, the one who informs is not considered at fault. Rather, the person who uses such a medicine should himself be prudent. However, if an unskilled person performs bloodletting (fasd) or cauterization and harm results, then he will be held responsible.
This is the reason why lengthy training under the supervision of experienced and senior physicians is considered essential for novice doctors and practitioners.
