Al-Auzai said: The word shukkta means tied, meaning her clothes were tied on her.
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
Benefits and Issues:
➊ For a person to confess of their own accord before a judge (qadi) and imam that they have committed a crime warranting a hadd punishment is a matter of great courage and resolve, which is evidence of their being a person of faith.
➋ If a woman becomes pregnant through adultery (zina), the hadd punishment should be postponed until she has delivered the child and, in fact, until the child is able to be cared for.
➌ Before carrying out the hadd punishment on a woman, her clothes should be securely fastened so that she does not become exposed.
➍ The funeral prayer (salat al-janazah) may be performed for one who has been stoned to death (rajm), but if the person was notorious for immorality and wickedness, then the imam and other dignitaries should refrain from participating, so that it serves as a lesson for others.
