Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
Benefits and Issues: A "litra" is one who seizes wealth by force or as a weapon, and a "uchakka" is one who snatches someone’s wealth with great speed and cunning. A "kha’in" is one who denies possession of wealth that was entrusted to him for safekeeping. The definition of theft (sariqah) does not apply to them. A thief (sariq) is one who secretly and stealthily takes someone else’s wealth from a specifically protected place. Undoubtedly, other punishments are prescribed for the aforementioned crimes, but the hand is not cut.
