باب خُرُوجِ الدَّجَّالِChapter: The appearance of the Dajjal.

حَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ آدَمَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَيْسَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ نَبِيٌّ يَعْنِي عِيسَى ، وَإِنَّهُ نَازِلٌ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُ فَاعْرِفُوهُ رَجُلٌ مَرْبُوعٌ إِلَى الْحُمْرَةِ وَالْبَيَاضِ بَيْنَ مُمَصَّرَتَيْنِ كَأَنَّ رَأْسَهُ يَقْطُرُ ، وَإِنْ لَمْ يُصِبْهُ بَلَلٌ ، فَيُقَاتِلُ النَّاسَ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ فَيَدُقُّ الصَّلِيبَ وَيَقْتُلُ الْخِنْزِيرَ وَيَضَعُ الْجِزْيَةَ وَيُهْلِكُ اللَّهُ فِي زَمَانِهِ الْمِلَلَ كُلَّهَا إِلَّا الْإِسْلَامَ وَيُهْلِكُ الْمَسِيحَ الدَّجَّالَ ، فَيَمْكُثُ فِي الْأَرْضِ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً ثُمَّ يُتَوَفَّى فَيُصَلِّي عَلَيْهِ الْمُسْلِمُونَ " .
Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet ﷺ said: There is no prophet between me and him, that is, Jesus ﷺ. He will descent (to the earth). When you see him, recognise him: a man of medium height, reddish fair, wearing two light yellow garments, looking as if drops were falling down from his head though it will not be wet. He will fight the people for the cause of Islam. He will break the cross, kill swine, and abolish jizyah. Allah will perish all religions except Islam. He will destroy the Antichrist and will live on the earth for forty years and then he will die. The Muslims will pray over him.

Benefits and Issues:
➊ Sayyiduna Isa (alayhis salam) is alive in the heavens.
➋ Allah Ta’ala protected him from the deceit, trickery, and attack of the Jews and raised him up to the heavens.
➌ This subject is mentioned not only in clear and authentic hadiths but also in the Noble Qur’an.
➍ The statement of Allah Ta’ala is: (وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ وَمَا صَلَبُوهُ وَلَكِنْ شُبِّهَ لَهُمْ) “They did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but it was made to appear so to them.”
(بَلْ رَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ) “Rather, Allah raised him up to Himself.” (an-Nisa 158)
Similarly, it is also mentioned in Surah Aal Imran, verse 55.
➎ Then, near the Day of Judgment, when the Dajjal will appear, Isa (alayhis salam) will descend in Damascus and will kill the Dajjal.
➏ His descent is mentioned not only in authentic hadiths but also in the Noble Qur’an. The statement of Allah Ta’ala is: (وَإِنَّهُ لَعِلْمٌ لِلسَّاعَةِ فَلَا تَمْتَرُنَّ بِهَا) “And indeed, he (Isa alayhis salam) is a sign of the Hour, so do not doubt it.” (az-Zukhruf 61)
And in another place He said: (وَإِنْ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ إِلَّا لَيُؤْمِنَنَّ بِهِ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَكُونُ عَلَيْهِمْ شَهِيدًا) “And there is none from the People of the Book but that he will surely believe in him before his death, and on the Day of Resurrection he (Isa alayhis salam) will be a witness against them.” (an-Nisa 159)
➐ As for the objection that prophethood has ended and that there will be no prophet after Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), the answer is mentioned in these hadiths: he (Isa alayhis salam) will only implement the Shari’ah of Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), just as it was said regarding Sayyiduna Musa (alayhis salam): If Musa (alayhis salam) were alive, he would have no choice but to follow me. (Musnad Ahmad: 3/387)
