Benefits and Issues:
This is a great favor that such righteous people have arisen in the Ummah, and in the future as well, there will be those who will render such services in matters of religion that are extremely important and necessary.
However, it is not necessary that they themselves are aware of this, or that they are introduced among the people, or that they go about publicizing themselves.

Rather, this quality will be recognized among the scholars of truth through their noble services.
It is possible that such a person may be a mujahid, a ruler, or a caller (da‘i) to Islam.

Authentication of the Hadith:
Its chain of narration is Hasan (good).
➊ At the beginning of every century, such people will be raised who are sound in creed, steadfast Muslims, and eminent scholars of the Book and Sunnah. Through them, Allah, the Exalted, will renew His religion, that is, propagate the true path and refute innovations. This could be a single person or a group; in fact, the opinion that it is a group is more preponderant.
➋ Who are the renewers (mujaddidun), and what were their names in previous centuries? There is no clear evidence regarding this, therefore, it is better to remain silent.
◄ Many people, in order to elevate their own status, have included their preferred individuals among the mujaddidun, even though among them are some whose soundness of creed is not established, nor did they possess knowledge of hadith. If there truly are any mujaddidun, they are only the sound-in-creed hadith scholars (muhaddithun), who defended the hadiths of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, always kept the banner of Islam raised high, and tore apart the shackles of blind following (taqlid). As for those who, through methods such as “It is not permissible for the non-muqallid…” and the like, continued to call towards blind following, including them in the list of mujaddidun is incorrect. There were also some who tried to portray Sayyiduna ‘Isa alayhis salam as a Hanafi and attempted to place the crown of mujaddid-ship upon their own heads. It will only become clear after death who was a mujaddid and who was a corrupter.
