Hadith 4150

حَدَّثَنَا وَاصِلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى الْأَسَدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ، قَالَ : وَكَانَ سِتْرًا مَوْشِيًّا .
The tradition mentioned above has also been transmitted through a different chain of narrators by Ibn Fudail on his father's authority. This version has: "The curtain was embellished. "

Benefits and Issues:
For those who are close (to Allah), even some permissible things become inappropriate, and hanging a cloth for the privacy of the household is obligatory if it is truly necessary; however, hanging curtains on the walls merely for purposeless adornment is a futile act, which falls under extravagance and wastefulness. Even for necessary privacy, one should be content with plain cloth.
For a Muslim, becoming engrossed in unnecessary worldly adornment is in no way beneficial.
