Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: We used to take it away (i. e. silk) from boys, and leave it for girls. Misar said: I asked Amr ibn Dinar about it, but he did not know it.

1؎: That is, when Mas'ar heard this hadith narrated by 'Abdul Malik bin Maisarah Zarrad al-Kufi from 'Amr bin Dinar, he directly asked 'Amr bin Dinar about it. But 'Amr expressed ignorance regarding it; it is possible that he did not remember this hadith, or he had forgotten it. And Allah knows best.

Benefits and Issues: Although children, due to their childhood, are not legally responsible (mukallaf) for the rulings of the Shari‘ah, the parents and guardians are certainly responsible. Therefore, they should, while adhering to the limits set by the Shari‘ah themselves, to the best of their ability, have the children act accordingly as well, and thus become deserving of reward from Allah.
