Hadith 4046

The tradition mentioned above has also been transmitted by Ibrahim bin Abdullah through a different chain of narrators. This version added: I do not say that he had forbidden you.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
Benefits and Issues:
➊ From these hadiths, the noble companions Ali, Ibn Umar, Abu Musa, and Ibn al-Zubayr (radi Allahu anhum), and among the Tabi‘in, Hasan al-Basri and Ibn Sirin, etc., deduced that silk and gold are permissible for both women and men. However, in light of other authentic hadiths, silk and gold are lawful (halal) for women and forbidden (haram) for men.

➋ The color and fragrance of saffron are permissible for women, but not for men.

➌ Bowing (ruku‘) and prostration (sujud) are positions for glorification (tasbih) and supplication (du‘a), not for recitation of the Qur’an. Except that Qur’anic supplications, if recited in prostration with the intention of supplication, are permissible.
