Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
Benefits and Issues:
By "libas-e-shuhrah" (garment of fame) is meant such clothing whose color or distinctive tailoring, etc., makes one stand out and appear unique from others, so that people look at it with special attention, and the wearer begins to boast and act arrogantly because of it. This is called the garment of fame, which does not befit any Muslim, especially when it is the clothing of non-Muslims, then its use is even more reprehensible. Therefore, wearing such clothing with this intention is, according to Shariah, impermissible and haram.
