Narrated Asma daughter of Yazid: She heard the Prophet ﷺ read the verse: "He acted unrighteously. " (innahu 'amila ghayra salih).
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
Benefits and Issues:
In this noble verse, the recitation of the majority is as follows: that is, “deed” is in the nominative case (marfu‘) as the subject of the report.
And “other than” is its attribute, therefore it too is in the nominative case (marfu‘).
This noble verse is regarding the son of Prophet Nuh (alayhis salam), that his deeds are not righteous.
Its translation will be in the past tense.
He has done unrighteous (evil) deeds.

Explanation:
1:
This is not Umm al-Mu’minin Umm Salamah,
rather, she is an Ansari female Companion.
However, in some narrations of Musnad Ahmad, the addition of "Umm al-Mu’minin" is found, so al-Mizzi has mentioned this hadith under both biographies.
2:
The son of Nuh (alayhis salam) performed an unrighteous deed.

(In the chain of narration, Shahr ibn Hawshab is a weak narrator,

Benefits: From the aforementioned hadith, it is understood that the various recitations (qira’at) of the Noble Qur’an are established:
For example, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam recited:
«اِنَّهُ عَمِلَ غَيْرُ صَالِحٍ»
That is, «عَمِلَ» is a past tense verb, and «غَيْرَ» is its object, i.e., in the accusative case (mansub).
In the past tense, its translation would be:
“He performed unrighteous deeds.”
But the recitation of the majority (jumhur) is:
«اِنَّهُ عَمَلٌ غَيْرُ صَالِحٍ»
«عَمَلٌ»: «اِنَّ» is the nominative predicate (marfu‘), and «غَيْرُ» is its attribute.
This verse was revealed regarding the son of Nuh (Noah) alayhis salam.
