Anas bin Malik said that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ate food, he licked his three fingers. And he said: If the morsel of one of you falls down, he should wipe away anything injurious on it and eat it and not leave it for the devil. And he ordered us to clean the dish, for one of you does not leave it for the devil. And he ordered us to clean the dish, for one of you does not know in what part of his food the blessing lies.

Benefits and Issues:
➊
According to this hadith and the following two ahadith, licking one’s fingers after eating or having them licked is Sunnah.
➋
If a morsel falls, it should be picked up, cleaned, and eaten.
➌
Wasting edible food is equivalent to giving it to Shaytan.
➍
One should take only as much food on one’s plate as is needed, and then at the end, the utensil should be thoroughly cleaned.
This is not something blameworthy; rather, it is exactly in accordance with the Sunnah.
And in this is also a remedy for pride and arrogance.
In this way, it is also not permissible to waste pieces of bread.
It is unknown in which part the blessing may be.
