Narrated Abdur Rahman al-Himyari: A companion of the Prophet ﷺ reported him as saying: When two people come together to issue an invitation, accept that of the one whose door is nearer in neighbourhood, but if one of them comes before the other accept the invitation of the one who comes first.

«أخرجه أبوداود، الأطعمة، باب إذا اجتمع داعيان أيهما أحق، حديث:3756.* أبو خالد الدارلاني عنعن.»©Explanation:
➊ The author rahimahullah has narrated this report as mawquf (attributed to a Companion), whereas in Sunan Abi Dawud it is mentioned as marfu‘ (attributed to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
➋ The mentioned narration is weak in its chain of transmission; however, this sequence is also established from other authentic ahadith. Moreover, the researchers of Musnad Ahmad have graded its chain as hasan (sound).
Therefore, the mentioned narration is actionable based on other supporting evidences.
