Hadith 3746

Qatadah reported this story from Saeed bin al-Musayyab. This version adds: When he was invited on the third day, he did not accept but threw pebbles on the messenger.

Explanation & Benefits

Benefits and Issues:
Benefit: This narration is weak in its chain of transmission.
Shaykh Abdul Tawwab Multani writes:
If the people eating on all three days are the same,
then the invitation on the third day is impermissible.
If they are different, then there is no harm in the abundance of days,
as this is established from the Salaf.
There is also an indication of this in Sahih al-Bukhari.
