Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
(1) A fruit is placed in water, then when it becomes soft, the fruit is crushed by hand in the water, and then that water is strained through a cloth so that the pulp of the fruit is separated, and then the water containing the effect of the fruit is drunk. This is called nabidh. It is flavorful and strengthening. There is no harm in drinking it, but it should not be kept for too long, otherwise intoxication develops in it. If it becomes intoxicating, then it is forbidden like wine. If nabidh is made from two types of fruits, that is, both fruits are placed in the water, then there is a greater possibility of intoxication developing quickly, because the chemical process starts more rapidly in it. Therefore, nabidh made from two things has been absolutely prohibited. Although its use is permissible in the case where intoxication does not develop, but common people are not very sensitive regarding the matter of intoxication. It is possible that they may not realize the presence of intoxication, therefore it has been absolutely prohibited. According to some scholars, the reason for the prohibition of nabidh made from two fruits is luxury, just as cooking two dishes has been prohibited.

(2) Fresh and dry dates are very different from each other, therefore they have been considered as two separate fruits.
