Hadith 3626

Narrated Ikrimah: The Holy Prophet ﷺ said to Ibn Suriya': I remind you by Allah Who saved you from the people of Pharaoh, made you cover the sea, gave you the shade of clouds, sent down to you manna and quails, sent down you Torah to Moses, do you find stoning (for adultery) in your Book? He said: You have reminded me by the Great. It is not possible for me to belie you. He then transmitted the rest of the tradition.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
Benefits and Issues:
Benefit: There are three narrations in this chapter.
In them, the method of administering an oath to non-Muslim dhimmis is described.
All three, in themselves, are weak in terms of chain of narration.
However, together, due to the presence of corroborating evidence, they have become sufficiently strong.
The method is that every non-Muslim dhimmi should be made to swear an oath according to the tenets of his own religion.
However, it is necessary that in the Muslim court, the oath be administered only on the authenticated basis of their religion.
Because the Qur’an has affirmed the revelation of the Torah to Musa (alayhis salam) and the Gospel to Isa (alayhis salam), and has acknowledged both as true prophets of Allah.
