Abu Majidah quoted Umar bin al-Khattab as saying: I heard the Prophet ﷺ say. . . narrating the tradition to the same effect.

Benefit:
The three aforementioned narrations are weak.
Those who buy and sell gold and silver, as well as those who make jewelry from them (i.e., goldsmiths), existed during the time of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
They existed before him as well, and have continued to exist after him.
Hazrat Abbas radi Allahu anhu mentioned one of the reasons for making the grass of the Haram of Makkah (idhkhar) permissible was that it is used in our homes.
And the money changers (sarraf) also use it.
Moreover, it is established in several ways that the earnings of a goldsmith, on the condition of trustworthiness and honesty, are lawful earnings.
And there is no defect in it; the defect lies in betrayal and falsehood.
No matter who it is in.
No matter where it is.
