Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: A man came to Prophet ﷺ and said: Messenger of Allah, my sister has taken a vow to perform hajj on foot. The Prophet ﷺ said: Allah gets no good from the affliction your sister imposed on herself, so let her perform hajj riding and make atonement for her oath.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The sister of Uqbah ibn Amir took a vow that she would perform hajj on foot, and she was unable to do so. The Prophet ﷺ said: Allah is not in need of the walking of your sister. She must ride and offer a sacrificial camel.

Benefits and Issues: This narration has already been mentioned in Hadith number 3293. In that narration, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) instructed him to fast for three days. And in this narration, the mention is of offering a sacrifice in place of fasting. The narration in which fasting is mentioned is weak. And this narration regarding sacrifice is authentic. Shaykh al-Albani has also declared it preserved in al-Irwa (8/218 to 221).

Narrated Ibn Abbas: That the sister of Uqbah bin Amir took vow to walk on foot to the Kabah. Thereupon the Prophet ﷺ ordered her to ride and slaughter a sacrificial animal.
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
Benefits and Issues: In a vow (nadhar) related to Hajj of this kind, it has been declared obligatory to offer a sacrifice (qurbani). And it is said that it is recommended (mustahabb), even if the one who swore the oath is weak and incapable. (This narration is also coming ahead. Hadith 3303)
