Hadith 3259

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَبَّانَ ، عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ ، قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَضَعَ تَمْرَةً عَلَى كِسْرَةٍ ، فَقَالَ : هَذِهِ إِدَامُ هَذِهِ " .
Narrated Yusuf ibn Abdullah ibn Salam: I saw that the Prophet ﷺ put a date on a loaf and said: This is a thing eaten with bread (condiments).

1؎: From this narration, it is understood that if someone swears not to eat curry (saln), and then eats dates with bread, he will be considered as having broken his oath (hanith).
