Hadith 3242

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ الْبَزَّازُ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ حَلَفَ عَلَى يَمِينٍ مَصْبُورَةٍ كَاذِبًا ، فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ بِوَجْهِهِ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ " .
Narrated Imran ibn Husayn: The Prophet ﷺ said: If anyone swears a false oath in confinement, he should make his seat in Hell on account of his (act).

Explanation & Benefits

Benefits and Issues:
Telling lies is itself a major sin and an act deserving of curse.
How much worse, then, when one also swears an oath upon it.
Its punishment is Hell.
There is no expiation for it in this world; however, the door of repentance remains open.
Whoever becomes aware of his wrongful action should repent and seek forgiveness abundantly.
