Hadith 3224

حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، عَنْ حَيْوَةَ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى عَلَى قَتْلَى أُحُدٍ بَعْدَ ثَمَانِ سِنِينَ ، كَالْمُوَدِّعِ لِلْأَحْيَاءِ وَالْأَمْوَاتِ " .
Narrated Yazid bin Habib: The Prophet ﷺ prayed over the martyrs of Uhud after eight years like a man who bids farewell to the living and dead.
Brief Explanation
1؎: It is as if this was the final supplication, because the Battle of Uhud took place in 3 AH, and eight years after that, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam passed away.

Here as well, the original Arabic word (salla) is used.
In which both possibilities exist:
It could mean making supplication (du'a) or performing the funeral prayer (salat al-janazah).
Therefore, this too is not definitive evidence for either one matter.
However, according to some, the second possibility is more predominant.
And Allah knows best.
