Hadith 3092

Narrated Umm al-Ala: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ visited me while I was sick. He said: Be glad, Umm al-Ala for Allah removes the sins of a Muslim for his illness as fire removes the dross of gold and silver.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
Benefits and Issues:

Visiting the sick is a necessary legal (shar‘i) right.
It is well-known and established that men visit men and women visit women.
However, if men go to visit sick women, or women go to visit sick men, there is no legal objection to this either,
provided that the legal etiquettes, i.e., hijab (veil), are properly observed, and it is not necessary for the patient and the visitor to have a conversation with each other during this act.
Men can go to the men’s quarters and inquire about the well-being and health of a female patient,
and likewise, women can do the same.

In the mentioned incident, there is a description of the honor of Umm ‘Ala’ (radi Allahu anha) and the humility of the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
That the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) used to take special care of all his noble companions (radi Allahu anhum ajma‘in) and the female companions as well.

This glad tidings is specific to the Muslims alone.
