Narrated Al-Bara ibn Azib: A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: Messenger of Allah, they ask thee for a legal decision about a kalalah. What is meant by kalalah? He replied: The verse revealed in summer is sufficient for you. I asked Abu Ishaq: Does it mean a person who dies and leaves neither children nor father? He said: This is so. The people think it is so.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
Benefits and Issues: ➊ The mention of (kalalah) appears in Surah al-Nisa in two places. One is in verse number 12: (وَإِنكَانَرَجُلٌيُورَثُكَلَالَةًأَوِامْرَأَةٌوَلَهُأَخٌأَوْأُخْتٌفَلِكُلِّوَاحِدٍمِّنْهُمَاالسُّدُسُ) (al-Nisa 4:12). This verse was revealed in winter, whereas the verse of Surah al-Nisa which is mentioned in the above hadiths was revealed in summer. In the noble verse 176 of Surah al-Nisa, kalalah is referred to as one who has no children, and brothers and sisters are present. Whereas most of the noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum ajma'in) define kalalah as one who has neither children nor a father. So this addition is derived from the hadith of Jabir (radi Allahu anhu), that when this verse was revealed about him, he had neither children nor a father. And this is an example that the hadiths clarify and explain the Qur'an, and sometimes also mention additions to it. (Khattabi)

´Narrated Al-Bara:` "A man came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: 'O Messenger of Allah! They ask you about a legal verdict. Say: "Allah directs (thus) regarding Al-Kalalah (4:176)." So the Prophet (ﷺ) said to him: "You should be sufficed with the Ayah of summer." (Meaning this Ayah, while in An-Nisa number 12, is mention of the topic, and it was revealed in the winter, this Ayah, revealed in the summer - the last revealed about it - explains it)
Shaykh Dr. Abdur Rahman Freywai
Explanation: 1: The verse of Saif was revealed during the Farewell Pilgrimage (Hajjat al-Wada') on the way, in the summer season. And it became famous by the name "Ayat al-Saif" (the verse of summer). Say: Allah gives you a verdict concerning al-kalalah [those who leave neither descendants nor ascendants as heirs]...)
