Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: The Prophet ﷺ sacrificed two horned rams which were white with black markings and had been castrated. When he made them face the qiblah, he said: I have turned my face towards Him. Who created the heavens and the earth, following Abraham's religion, the true in faith, and I am not one of the polytheists. My prayer, and my service of sacrifice, my life and my death are all for Allah, the Lord of the Universe, Who has no partner. That is what I was commanded to do, and I am one of the Muslims. O Allah it comes from Thee and is given to Thee from Muhammad and his people. In the name of Allah, and Allah is Most Great. He then made sacrifice.

´Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah:` "I attended the Eid Al-Adha' with the Prophet (ﷺ) at the Musalla. When he finished his Khutbah, he descended from his Minbar and was given a male sheep. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) slaughtered it with his hand and said: 'Bismillah, Wa Allahu Akbar, this from me and whoever does not slaughter from my Ummah.'"

Explanation: 1: I begin with the name of Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. This is on my behalf and on behalf of those members of my ummah who have not performed the sacrifice. (This last sentence is clear and explicit regarding the fact that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam performed the sacrifice on behalf of those members of his ummah who were alive and, due to necessity, were unable to perform the sacrifice themselves. Including the deceased in this is forced and unwarranted.)
Note: (There is a difference of opinion regarding the hearing (sama‘) of this narration from Jabir radi Allahu anhu by “Muttalib,” but based on supporting evidences and corroborating narrations, this hadith is considered sahih li ghayrihi (authentic due to supporting chains), al-Irwa’ 1138, and refer to al-Albani 580.)
