Hadith 2718

Anas reported the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying “He who kills and infidel gets his spoil. ” Abu Talhah killed twenty men that day meaning the day of Hunain and got their spoils. Abu Talhah met Umm Sulaim who had a dagger with her. He asked “What is with you, Umm Sulaim”? She replied “I swear by Allaah, I intended that if anyone came near me I would pierce his belly with it. Abu Talhah informed the Messenger of Allah ﷺabout it. Abu Dawud said “This is good (hasan) tradition. " Abu Dawud said “By this was meant dagger. The weapon used by the Non – Arabs in those days was dagger. ”

Benefits and Issues:

In the Battle of Hunayn, initially the Muslims suffered some defeat, but later they gathered their strength, and Allah, the Exalted, granted them victory. This is mentioned in Surah At-Tawbah:
(LAQAD NASARAKUMULLAHU FĪ MAWĀTIṆI KATHĪRAH WA YAWMA ḤUNAYNIN IḎH A‘JABATKUM KATHRATUKUM FALAM TUGHNI ‘ANKUM SHAY’ĀN WA ḌĀQAT ‘ALAYKUMU AL-ARḌU BIMĀ RAḤUBAT THUMMA WALLAYTUM MUD'BIRĪN) (: At-Tawbah: 25)
"Indeed, Allah has helped you on many occasions, and (remember) the Day of Hunayn, when your great numbers pleased you, but they did not avail you at all, and the earth, despite its vastness, became constrained for you; then you turned back, retreating."

Whatever personal belongings are found with the slain (enemy), they are the right of the Mujahid (combatant) who killed him, regardless of their amount. Furthermore, no khums (one-fifth share) is taken from it.

In every era, the weapons in common use at the time should be employed.

Muslim women should also be prepared for defense, so that, as needed, they can defend themselves.
