Benefits and Issues:
The hadith is authentic.
And it is also found in Sahih Bukhari.

is not present in some manuscripts of Abu Dawud.
And its absence is more appropriate.

Hadith Commentary:

There, a stay of three days would occur in the situation where there was absolutely no danger from the enemy.
The purpose of this stay was to implement beneficial reforms for the welfare of that region, and also to manifest the grandeur and glory of Islam.
In any case, it is permissible to stay for three days in conquered territories so that the dominance becomes well-known and the strength of Islam becomes visible there.
And Allah knows best.

Nowadays, in this atomic age, such automated missiles have been invented that their target can be set hundreds of miles away, and they reach their mark on their own, evading obstacles along the way.
Now, there is no need to stay in any area for three days, because field warfare has become obsolete.
