Benefits and Issues:
If a Muslim is surrounded by disbelievers,
and, in order to save his life, outwardly utters words of disbelief,
then there is a concession for him.
The Noble Qur’an has mentioned this in this context.
()(مَن كَفَرَ بِاللَّـهِ مِن بَعْدِ إِيمَانِهِ إِلَّا مَنْ أُكْرِهَ وَقَلْبُهُ مُطْمَئِنٌّ بِالْإِيمَانِ) (an-Nahl 106): Whoever disbelieves in Allah after having believed (upon him is Allah’s wrath),
except for the one who is compelled while his heart is content with faith.
In Surah Aal-e-Imran (Ayah 28) it is stated:
()(إِلَّا أَن تَتَّقُوا مِنْهُمْ تُقَاةً ۗ): Except that you protect yourselves from them in prudence (then there is no harm).

Hadith Commentary:
This prophecy of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was also fulfilled in its time, and even today, in the Saudi era, the peace and security present in Hijaz can also be considered as a manifestation of this prophecy.
May Allah Ta'ala keep this government established and enduring. Ameen.

Hadith Commentary:

The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) instructed his noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum) to exercise patience in the face of hardships and tribulations, so that they would endure the torments of the disbelievers with a cheerful countenance. This is because a time was to come when Muslims would have no fear or danger from the disbelievers; they would travel wherever they wished in a state of peace and security, and there would be fear of none in their hearts except Allah.

If by "San‘a" is meant San‘a of Yemen, then the distance between it and Hadramawt is five days’ journey. And if by "San‘a" is meant the one in Syria (Sham), then a much greater distance is intended. However, the first possibility is more likely.

The prophecy of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam)
was fulfilled word for word.
Even today, the peace and security present in the region of Hijaz under the Saudi rule can also be considered as a manifestation of this prophecy.
May Allah, the Exalted, keep this government established and enduring for a long time and protect it from the envy of the envious.
Ameen, O Lord of the worlds.

Hadith Commentary:
This glad tidings of yours was fulfilled: the entire Arabian Peninsula was cleansed of disbelievers.
The translation of the chapter is derived from this, that Khabbab (radi Allahu anhu) endured the hardships inflicted by the disbelievers, merely complained, but remained steadfast upon Islam.
Upon Khabbab’s request, you (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) did not immediately invoke a curse, but instead enjoined patience.
This is the very characteristic of the Prophets.
In the end, your prophecy was fulfilled word for word, and today, at the close of this fourteenth century, the land of Arabia has become an exemplary cradle of peace.
This is the blessing of Islam.
May Allah keep this Saudi government established and enduring forever.

Hadith Commentary:
1.
At that time, Khabbab bin Al-Aratt radi Allahu anhu was captured by the disbelievers. They would inflict various kinds of torture upon him and force him to return to disbelief. He preferred being beaten over disbelief. In such circumstances, he presented himself to the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and requested: "Pray to Allah for us." But he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam advised him to be patient and said: "Those before you faced even more severe situations." The night of trials and suffering is about to end, so do not act hastily.

From this, it is understood that if someone is forced into disbelief, he should choose resolve (azimah) instead of concession (rukhsah), and if he is forced into something other than disbelief, he should accept the concession. In other words, there are two types of compulsion and coercion: one is permissible (mubah) and the other is excused (mukhaffaf). We have explained its details in the introductory note.

Hadith Commentary:

Hadramaut is a country in northern Arabia; there is a distance of fifteen days’ journey on foot between it and Sana’a.
By this, general security is meant, which later came to be established throughout the entire land of Arabia after the dominance of Islam, and today, in the era of Saudi Arabia, this security is found throughout the whole country. May Allah, the Exalted, keep this government established and enduring.

Hadith Commentary:
1.
San‘a is a city in the country of Yemen, which contains many gardens, and Hadramawt is a town in northern Arabia where there are date palm orchards. The distance between them for those traveling on foot is fifteen days. In this hadith, what is meant is general security, which people enjoyed throughout Arabia after the dominance of Islam. During the era of ‘Umar ibn ‘Abd al-‘Aziz rahimahullah, such incidents occurred that shepherds were unafraid of wolves regarding their goats, to the extent that they only became aware of their goats’ deaths when the wolves began to attack them.

Nowadays, in Saudi Arabia, this kind of security is enjoyed by all people. There, shops filled with gold remain open and no one fears theft. May Allah keep this government established and enduring, which is at the forefront in the propagation of Islam and the promotion of tawhid (monotheism).
3.
In any case, the purpose of Imam al-Bukhari rahimahullah is to mention those hardships that the polytheists inflicted upon the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and his noble Companions radi Allahu anhum ajma‘in.

Benefit:
In this hadith, patience is enjoined upon enduring hardships for the sake of Islam. The oppression and persecution inflicted upon the previous communities have been mentioned. Disbelievers, in every era, have oppressed the righteous servants of Allah. May Allah grant them guidance and bestow steadfastness upon the Muslim Ummah in adhering to the religion of Islam, Ameen.
