Hadith 2642

حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْمَهْرِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الطَّوِيلِ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ بِمَعْنَاهُ " .
Anas bin Malik reported the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying “ I am commanded to fight with the polytheists. The rest of the tradition is to the same effect as mentioned above. ”

Benefits and Issues:
In the aforementioned ahadith, "an-naas" (the people) refers to the polytheists.
Or it refers to the corrupters, that is, those who neither affirm nor act upon the Shari'ah revealed by Allah Ta'ala.

There is no meaning in fighting against the people of Islam and those who are peaceful; in no way can this be called jihad.
