Hadith 2556

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ ، عَنْ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " فِي الْجَرَسِ مِزْمَارُ الشَّيْطَانِ " .
Abu Hurairah reported the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying “The bell is a wooden wind musical instrument of Satan. ”

Benefits and Issues:

It is not permissible to tie bells or bell-like objects around the necks of animals.


The prohibition of other musical instruments is also established from the ahadith.


Similarly, keeping a dog is impermissible if it is merely for display of awe or for adornment.
If it is with the intention of protection, then it is permissible.
