Hadith 254

حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ بِنْتِ طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : " كُنَّا نَغْتَسِلُ وَعَلَيْنَا الضِّمَادُ وَنَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مُحِلَّاتٌ وَمُحْرِمَاتٌ " .
Aishah said: we took a bath while having an adhesive substance over us (our head) in both states, namely, when wearing a robe for Hajj (ihram) and when wearing ordinary clothes (not meant for Hajj).

1830. Commentary:
➊ After entering the state of ihram, it is not permissible to apply any kind of fragrance; however, it is Sunnah to apply fragrance at the time of donning the ihram. If its effect remains afterwards, there is no harm.
➋ From this hadith, the concession for women to use powder-type substances is also established.
