Narrated Abu Saeed al-Khudri: A man emigrated to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from the Yemen. He asked (him): Have you anyone (of your relatives) in the Yemen? He replied: My parents. He asked: Did they permit you? He replied: No. He said: Go back to them and ask for their permission. If they permit you, then fight (in the path of Allah), otherwise be devoted to them.

Benefits and Issues:
Parental permission is necessary for voluntary (nafl) jihad.
Here, it is also noteworthy
that Islam has greatly emphasized strengthening and maintaining the family unit.
This promotes virtue and closes the doors to evil.
However, Western civilization, in order to break this fundamental unit and unity, has especially taught family members and adult children the lesson of liberalism and individualism.
The effects of this are extremely poisonous.
The West itself has already witnessed its consequences,
and now its direction is towards the East, and especially towards Islamic societies.
