Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
Benefits and Issues:
It is obligatory for all segments of Muslims to remain prepared, according to their respective abilities, against disbelief (kufr).
The youth with their lives and youthfulness, the wealthy with their wealth, the scholars through invitation and encouragement, and by refuting disbelief (kufr) and polytheism (shirk), the elders, women, and children by supplicating to Allah for Islam, for the Muslims, and for the mujahideen—should seek help.
Condemnation and satire of disbelief, polytheism, and the polytheists in the form of poetry is also counted as striving (jihad) with the tongue.
In short, any Muslim whose mind is devoid of the motivation for jihad should be concerned about his faith.

(1) Imam al-Nasa’i rahimahullah has deduced from the above-mentioned twelve (12) hadiths the obligation and compulsory nature of jihad, because in them the command for jihad is explicitly mentioned. However, to understand the legal status of this obligation, the details and explanation of hadith 3087 should be kept in view.
(2) Jihad is obligatory both with one’s self and with one’s wealth, meaning that everyone should fully cooperate with the government in fulfilling the necessary requirements so that the government may strengthen its defense, and military preparedness may be maintained, so that upon seeing this, the enemy refrains from mischief.
(3) Jihad with the tongue is to preach to the disbelievers, to encourage the Muslims towards jihad, to praise the Islamic army and thereby boost their morale, and to satirize the enemy so as to demoralize them.
(4) The researcher of the book has declared the chain of transmission of the mentioned narration to be weak, whereas other scholars have considered it authentic. From the detailed discussion of the scholars, the opinion of the authenticity of the hadith appears to be closer to correctness. And Allah knows best. 1) This and the following ahadith are not related to the previous chapter; rather, they fall under the category of "miscellaneous" which have some connection to jihad. Jihad with the hands refers to fighting, jihad with the tongue refers to preaching, and jihad with wealth refers to financial support of the mujahideen. ➋ The researcher of the book has declared its chain of narration to be weak, whereas according to other scholars, this narration is authentic. The details of this can be seen in the benefits of hadith number: 3098.

Explanation:
➊ Jihad by the tongue means to establish the proof against the disbelievers and invite them towards the oneness of Allah (tawhid). Then, if they reject, they should be satirized and condemned, and in this way, they should be disgraced and humiliated so that their spirits are weakened, they show cowardice in battle, and do not come to the field.
➋ From the aforementioned hadith, it is established that it is obligatory upon Muslims to remain prepared at every moment for jihad in the path of Allah (fi sabilillah) against the rebels, tyrants, atheists, and irreligious people of Allah. In this regard, they should spend wealth, perform jihad by the tongue, and present proofs to the disbelievers regarding the obligation of faith in tawhid, messengership (risalah), and the Hereafter.
➌ In today's era, media is such an effective and global weapon that, even before the time for fighting arrives, it completely transforms minds, thoughts, and ideologies. Participating in this jihad through poetry, literature, and good articles is among the most important needs of this age.
